Tasting Notes:
The intensely aromatic wine shows blackberry, black cherry, clove, allspice and cocoa with subtler characters of raspberry, leather and toasted oak. Black pepper, black olive and raspberry dominate this complex wine. Layered flavors of tobacco, mocha, leather and all the brown spices evolve with time in the glass. This wine is loaded with intense fruit and oak characters and finishes with a nice grip of tannins that hold it all together. This wine is like reading a good book - you don't want to put it down!
Vineyard Notes:
The Mossback Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the Tim Norris and neighboring Sweetwater Land and Cattle were picked on October 4 and October 25. The grapes were fermented to dryness in small closed-top stainless steel tanks then pressed off and barrel aged for 28 months in a combination of French and American oak to add spice and complexity. The best barrel lots were selected for the final blend, then bottled on April 29, 2010.
