Tasting Notes:
Our Rose of Tempranillo is made from Tempranillo grown in our Matchbook Vineyard in the Dunnigan Hills. These vines are from cuttings imported from the Pesquera region of Spain and produce classic Tempranillo aromas of black cherries, boysenberries and raspberry with a touch of chocolate mocha, cigar box and leather. The flavor is crisp and lively with lots of citrus and peach and just a touch of sweetness. This is the ideal wine to enjoy on a hot summer day; complex enough to satisfy the toughest wine critic, yet easy enough to please Aunt Jane. Serve chilled and pair with fresh fruit and brie.
Production Notes:
This limited production Rose was made by removing a portion of the juice from our Tempranillo lots after sitting on the skins for 24 hours. The juice was cold fermented naturally and slowly over a three-month period. We blended, fined and filtered just prior to bottling in January 2010.
