Tasting Notes:
One of our favorite blends is a big juicy Syrah and a robust Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2006 Matchbook Syrah is 90% Syrah, 6% Cabernet, and 4% Petite Sirah. Raspberry, spice, tabacco, cassis and a touch of vanilla from the oak barrels.
Vineyard Notes:
90% Dunnigan Hills Syrah from the Matchbook Vineyard, 6% Chalk HIll Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Solano County Petite Sirah.
Production Notes:
After a one-day cold soak, the tank was bled to concentrate flavors. We press off at 3 degree Brix after an eight-day fermentation to allow brigher, cleaner fruit expression and avoid heavy tannins. After two aerative rackings, the wine went to barrel in October 2005.
